20 USD gold coin USA St. Gaudens
The Double Eagle was first issued as an official currency in 1849. Gaudens Double Eagle (named after the designer Augustus Saint-Gaudens) with the motif of Lady Liberty on the side of the painting and the flying bald eagle was minted between 1907 and 1933. The world economic crisis in the early 1930s and the subsequent ban on gold by President Roosevelt (decree 6102) meant the end of the Double Eagle. The last vintages from 1927 are very rare and coveted by collectors.
