In 1904 President Roosevelt decided to update the image of the coins based on the success of a commemorative coin designed by the famous sculptor St. Gaudens. He suggested the removal of the caption "In God we trust". Nevertheless the Congress denied that proposal. Therefore, in the end it was placed the head of Miss Liberty on the anverse, adorned with an impressive feather ornament as a tribute to the Native Americans, crowned with thirteen stars. And on the obverse, an upright eagle perched on a bundle of arrows and an olive branch.
The face value of "TEN DOLLARS" is embedded at the bottom. The caption "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is at the top, while the nation's motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is stamped to the right of the eagle's shoulder.
